Over 80 drivers from the bulk and bag cement segments as well as aggregates came together at Carib Cement’s Sports Club on Saturday, June 22 for the part one of a two part annual truck driver’s training. While there, the drivers were engaged in activities and discussions on financial management by Dr. Andre Haughton of UWI Mona, personal safety and fatigue management by Ms. Elva Clarke of Worksafe Global and a motivational talk by Rev. Courtney Morrison.
As part of the motivational programme at Carib, drivers were awarded in the categories of ‘Safety’ and ‘Productivity’. A raffle at the end of the day also saw four drivers winning prizes including a deep freeze, 32” flat screen television, a Samsung Galaxy dual sim phone and one Nutri Bullet blender. Other prizes included utensils, safety boots, gloves, helmets, safety glasses and branded goody bags.
June is recognized as Road Safety Month In Jamaica and representatives from the Road Safety Unit of Jamaica, Tyre Warehouse and Total Jamaica were on hand to give away engine oil and many attractive promotional items to the truckers.
