BACKGROUND: Carib Cement Company Limited has partnered with the Ministry of National Security through the Department of Correctional Services with the implementation of a Greenhouse Rehabilitation Project. The Greenhouse will serve as an intervention tool which will assist in the rehabilitation process of our country’s inmates through the integration of farming and technology in the provision of real life skills.
The main objective of this project is to solicit creative and realistic methods that will provide a variation in our rehabilitation process and by extension help reduce the possibility of recidivism.
This tool will assist the justice system in the reintegration of inmates, with the expressed aim of releasing persons who have been rehabilitated with a skill into society. Also, we want to provide the participants with the knowledge and tools to become entrepreneurs upon leaving the correctional facility, as well as having the ability to replicate the same technology in other institutions.
